National Children's Science Congress (NCSC) 2016

With the arrival of the West Bengal Team consisting of 29 Child Scientists, 8 Escort Teachers, the State Coordinator, the State Academic Coordinator, the General Secretary/SCF at Howrah railway station on 02 January, 2017 morning the curtain came down on National Children's Science Congress (NCSC), 2016.

The components of activities, be at the District level or at the State level, were completed, by and large, as per Road Map for the State & District level Children's Science Congress, 2016, pre-decided jointly by 21 District Coordinating Agencies (DCAs) and the State Coordinating Agency (SCA).

At the State level with the help of a State Coordination Committee and a State Academic Committee, Dr. Kanchan Mukhopadhyaya coordinated the programme as the State Coordinator and Prof. Subhasis Mukhopadhyay, as the State Academic Coordinator.

The State level Congress was held on 1st and 2nd 2016 at Ballygunge Government High School, 38/ 2, Naresh Mitra Sarani, Kolkata 700020. Prof. Asish Bandopadhyay, MIC, Science & Technology, Bio-Technology, Statistics & Planning, Govt. of West Bengal inaugurated the programme on 01 October, 2016.

Chanda, Registrar, West Bengal University of Teachers' Training Education Planning & Administration (WBUTTEPA), Sk. Emdadul Islam, Director, Birla Industrial & Technological Museum, Dr. Maitrayee Banerjee, Sr. Scientist, West Bengal State Council of Science & Technology, paid visit to encourage the budding scientists.

With a view to raise the quality of the Project Reports and also to enhance the presentation skill of the child scientists, the above 30 child scientists attended Review & Mentoring Workshop conducted by SCF at the Hostel of the David Hare Teachers’ Training College Hostel, Kolkata on and also another one at its office at 5 Dabur Park, Kolkata 700084.

At the National Children’s Science Congress, 2016, held at the Vidyapratisthan’s Institute of Information Technology (VIIT), Baramati, Maharashtra from 27 to 31 December, 2016, total 647 projects were presented by the child scientists from all the States and UTs put together. Out of those only 32 Projects were selected in the First Round for presentation at the Second Round. The following six projects from West Bengal were in this list of thirty projects for Second Round:

OUTSTANDING PROJECTS of NCSC, 2016

After the Second Round for 32 only 15 projects were selected as OUTSTANDING PROJECTS of NCSC, 2016. From West Bengal projects of following two child scientists found place in the coveted list if 15 OUTSTANDING PROJECTS.
